Age Limit for BSSC CGL Recruitment 2025Age is calculated as of 01 August 2025. Candidates meeting the maximum age limit and educational qualifications by 01 August 2022 are also eligible per General Administration Department guidelines. Minimum Age (All Categories): 21 years Maximum Age:
- Unreserved (Male): 37 years
- BC/EBC (Male & Female), Unreserved (Female): 40 years
- SC/ST (Male & Female): 42 years
- Divyang (All Categories): Additional 10 years relaxation on the respective category’s maximum age limit

Selection Process for BSSC CGL Recruitment 2025Preliminary Examination: - Nature: Objective, multiple-choice questions.

- Comprehension/Logic/Reasoning/Mental Ability
- Details:
- Total Questions: 150
- Marks: 4 marks per correct answer, 1 mark deducted per wrong answer
- Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes
- Language: Hindi/English (English version prevails in case of discrepancies)
- Open-book exam: Candidates can bring one textbook per section (General Studies, Mathematics, General Science) from NCERT/BSEB/ICSE or other recognized boards. Guides, photocopies, handwritten notes, or electronic devices are prohibited.
- Purpose: If applications exceed 40,000, a preliminary exam will be conducted, potentially in multiple phases with result normalization. Top candidates (5 times the number of vacancies per category) qualify for the Main Examination.
Main Examination: - Structure: Two papers:
- Paper 1 (Hindi): Qualifying paper (minimum 30% marks required to evaluate Paper 2).
- Paper 2: Covers General Studies, General Science & Mathematics, Comprehension/Logic/Reasoning/Mental Ability.
- Details: A separate advertisement will be published for the Main Examination with further details.
- Qualifying Marks (for both Preliminary and Main Exams):
- Unreserved: 40%
- Backward Class (BC): 36.5%
- Extremely Backward Class (EBC): 34%
- SC/ST: 32%

- Merit List Criteria:
- Candidates with equal marks are ranked by age (older candidates ranked higher).
- If age is also equal, ranking is based on alphabetical order of names (A to Z).
- Document Verification:
- Candidates must present original certificates (e.g., educational, caste, domicile, disability, EWS, etc.) as uploaded during the application. Failure to provide valid documents leads to cancellation of candidature.
- Final Selection:
- Based on the Main Examination performance and document verification.
- The Bihar Staff Selection Commission’s decision on eligibility, selection, and allocation is final and binding.
Note: The examination may be conducted in Online (Computer-Based Test) or Offline mode, as per the General Administration Department notification dated 20.06.2024. Biometric verification (thumb impression/iris capture) may be used to prevent impersonation, with legal action for discrepancies. |
